Research and Development (P&D) has an important commercial meaning, as it intends to carry out long term activities relating to an innovative character technology for companies in the most varied sectors, promoting its development and raising its competitiveness in the market. Activities related to P&D are carried out worldwide, based in data provided by OECD, in 2004 the approximate value invested by PIB destined to research and development in the United States was 2.6%, in Japan 3.2%, in the European Union 1.8%, in China 1.45%, while in 2005, in Brazil it was 1.02%. Given this context, we can see that Brazil can encourage more investment in activities related to P&D.of the electric sector, the Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (National Agency of Electric Energy) – ANEEL – regulated the Research and Development Program (R&D), which has the objective of annually increase a minimum percentage of companies´ investment (concessionaires and licensees distribution, generation and electric energy transmission) in the Research and Development Program of the Electricity Sector. The company GT2 Energia started inside a research group at PUC-Rio and consolidated its knowledge from a large number of P&Ds performed in the electric energy sector. The team´s technical knowledge opens a range of various projects that can be performed in the scope of energy and related. And the experience gained during the execution of the projects brought enough knowledge to understand the regulation of the P&D programs and skillfully perform proposals and monitoring of projects. As the company originated from within a University, GT2 Energia encourages the constant renewal of its team, as well as partnering with important learning institutions. Many projects performed, at the first stage of development, created opportunities for new projects, which consisted of improving the products already performed, in the range of new equipment, in addressing new methodologies. Some research and development projects which can be of interest to the sector are listed below:
Helps the group of engineers and/or personnel in charge to determine early abnormal behaviour of the cycle´s components.
The behavior of the equipment during the transient phenomena can be estimated.
To prove the working principle of different forms of power generation and the use of more diverse types of fuels, preliminary prototypes can be assembled and tested. A web of GT2 Energia´s partnership allows the performance of an ample scope of laboratorial and field tests.
Development of customized softwares which are able to assist the operation, control and optimization of the energy usage processes. |
